Uddingston Improve their Male & Female International Pathway Performance Teams!!!
Uddingston Hockey Club is thrilled to announce the enhancement of their performance management teams with the appointment of Jonny Caren (Gents) and Chris Duncan (Ladies). Both will be instrumental in supporting these teams throughout the upcoming 2024/25 season.
Both Jonny and Chris, who are the current Scotland Men’s and Women’s teams Head Coaches and programme leads, will support the existing performance coaching teams and oversee an enhanced performance environment at the Club.
The roles will include taking small group and one-to-one technical sessions with key performance players, while also mentoring coaches with the simple aim of taking every aspect of our performance programme to the next level.
The appointment of such experienced coaches as consultants is part of the Club’s recently implemented development and business plans with the clear aim of becoming the prominent club across Scotland, and beyond, in the near future.
There are many more exciting announcements in relation to incoming International Players, Club Ambassadors, UK and International Club Partnerships, and many more announcements to come over an exciting summer and season ahead.
Club President, Allan McGill, commented: “Our plan is simple: be market leading in everything we do and in turn have the best people in place to create an environment that will make this a reality. With this in mind we reached out to both Jonny and Chris to explain our plans, and both could see the benefit in signing up to be part of it not only for the good of Uddingston, but for hockey in Scotland.”
Jonny Caren, who will assist on the gents’ side, commented: “It is great to see a club in Scotland looking to develop itself and develop a performance environment to both create international quality players, but also enhance existing international players. I’m delighted to support their plans fully.”
Chris Duncan, who will assist on the ladies’ side, commented: “Uddingston has been slowly developing as a performance club and over the last few years have made great progress, however it is good to see that the club understands the need to put a business plan in place to further support this even further, which can only be good for hockey in Scotland.”
The upcoming season is set to be an exciting period for the club, with numerous opportunities available, including Student Scholarships, Part-Time and Full-Time Community Coaching Positions, International and National Player Support Programmes, , and various Youth and Senior Coaching/Management roles.
