Join Uddingston Hockey Club as our Gents 1s Manager
We’re looking to recruit a new Gents 1s Manager for the 2024/25 Season, Ideal for someone with keen attention to detail and a passion for performance sport. You’ll liaise with Scottish Hockey for Premiership administration, support the Gents 1s on match days, manage player availability and communications and attend club committee meetings.
We are also looking for a Gents 2s Performance Coach
The Gents 2s Performance Coach will be part of the performance coaching group covering the Gents 1s and 2s Teams. They will be key in delivering the long-term performance team strategy – led by the Director of Hockey and Gents Head Coach.

The Gents 1s Manager will be a key component of the Gents performance programme as the Club looks to enter the next stage of the long-term performance strategy. The Gents 1s are coming off the back of a strong 2023/24 season, finishing 5th in the Scottish Premiership and achieving Promotion to the Scottish Indoor Premiership for the 2024/25 season.
You will be working alongside the Director of Hockey, Gents Head Coach, Gents Performance Coach, Scottish Hockey and a number of external stakeholders.
The Role Brief:
- Liaising with Scottish Hockey with regard to Premiership Division administration
- Support the Gents 1s on match day in a Manager capacity
- Collecting player availability and ensuring that it is up to date
- Contacting opposition team managers and match officials ahead of games where required
- Working with the club to ensure all players have the appropriate branded clothing
- Sending out weekly selection via Teamo and details for the weekend’s fixtures
- Attending club committee meetings and feeding back on behalf of the Gents Performance Programme alongside the Gents Head Coach
- Other ad hoc duties as required by the Gents Performance Programme
Requirements
- You will need to possess an attention to detail and be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Experience of previous administrative/sports team manager role advantageous, but not essential
- The role is suited to someone who has a desire to work in performance sport.
The Gents 2s Performance Coach will be part of the Gents performance coaching group covering the Gents 1s and 2s Teams. The Gents 2s are coming into the new season off the back of a strong 2023/24 season, missing out on promotion to Regional 1 via the playoffs. They will be key in delivering the long-term performance team strategy – led by the Director of Hockey and Gents Head Coach. They will play a lead role in the planning and execution of the strategy, with particular responsibility for the Gent’s 2s.
The Role Brief
- Planning and delivering training sessions suitable for a performance team, with delivery focus for the Gents 2s/3s on a Wednesday night
- Lead the Gents 2nd team on Saturday match days
- Opportunities to assist the Gents Head Coach at training sessions
- Work with the Gent’s Head Coach on development, selection, training sessions and team tactics, ensuring that open communication is upheld throughout the entire season
- Coach development opportunities within the club through the Director of Hockey
- Help to maintain and develop the culture and behaviours required within the performance squad to achieve the performance strategy
- Help identify and nurture the talented young hockey players coming through the club, acting as a key part of the players development journey to aspiring 1s players
- Monitor performance and provide regular feedback to players
Requirements
- Ideally, you will have a UK Level 2 coaching Qualification, or be working towards this qualification, alongside a valid First Aid certificate
- You must be eligible to work in the UK and hold a valid UK/EU passport or valid work permit and speak a good standard of English
- Experience of coaching within a performance environment is desirable
- Experience of integrating video analysis into a performance programme is desirable
- Enthusiasm for developing existing youth and senior players and helping attract new players to improve the team
